Mr. Anderson - Grades 7-12 Math

Mr. Anderson is the veteran teacher at CCCS; he has taught various math classes at CCCS for 23 years. He tries to strengthen student interest in Math with his own enthusiasm for the subject. Inspired by him, some of his students have even gone on to become teachers themselves. He is dedicated to CCCS; he’s the first one in the door each day and is always ready with a smile.
Mr. Anderson holds a B.S. in Math Education from Northern Michigan University, a Masters in Religious Education from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (ACSI Certified), and an MA in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University. He was also a member of the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics for ten years.
"Frau" Becky Austin - Pre K-12 German, Pre-Algebra

Frau Austin’s language teaching style is infectious—combining dialog, songs, and games, while addressing the everyday customs and culture of Germany. The students are inspired by her teaching and must always address her in German, unless they are sitting on her Ami-teppich (“American rug”). She started teaching German at CCCS in the elementary/Jr. High in 2010, adding the high school in 2011.
Frau Austin holds a B.A. in German and Education from Denison University. She also was privileged to take part in a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship, spending the '99-2000 school year teaching English in Schwerin, Germany. There she split her time between a Montessori school (grades 1-4) and a college-prep secondary school (working in grades 5, 8, 10 and 12.) She’s spent a total of over 2 years living in Germany and has a great passion for the language and culture.
Mr. Scott Austin - Grades 10,11,12 - Physics  & Chemistry

Mr. Austin has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and a BA in German from Michigan State University. He taught German at Michigan Tech University (2000-2010). His love for science comes through in his teaching, and his students learn that Christ and Science do not have to be at odds. Mr. Austin is a down-to-earth person and brings joy and enthusiasm to the students and staff at the school.
Miss Christa Peterson - Grades 1 & 2

Miss Peterson graduated from the Copper Country Christian School in 2011. She attended Northland International University for one year studying office administration. The following summer while working at summer camp, where she has served for seven years, she felt the Lord leading her to pursue a degree in early childhood education. In the fall of 2012, she began classes through Grand Canyon University's online program. Miss Peterson has also taught  elementary students at a Christian school in Missouri. Recently, Miss Peterson has felt the Lord leading her back to Michigan to continue pursuing her degree and teaching at the CCCS.
Mrs. Kris O'Connor - Grades 3 & 4

Mrs. O’Connor has also taught Sunday school and VBS at Evangel Baptist, as well as teaching water safety classes at Suomi College (now Finlandia University). She conducted home school seminars for teaching multi-age groups and coordinated homeschool conferences in the UP prior to joining our staff. She is passionate about pursing relationship with God through reading His word and through praise and worship—she sang on the worship team for many years as part of her campus ministry and her church. She moved to the Upper Peninsula this past June, as her husband is a graduate student at Michigan Tech, unsure of the plans God had in store for her. As the summer progressed, she felt the pull of the Holy Spirit calling her to work at CCCS and she is very excited to be teaching middle and high school English and Girl’s Bible this school year!
